Sensational Apple Pie with a golden brown oatmeal crisp topping

- 1 pie crust I used store bought
- 8-10 apples peeled cored and sliced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons flour
Apple Crisp Crumble Topping
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup oatmeal (large flake not instant)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- pinch salt
- 1/2 cup butter chilled, cubed into pieces
Glaze topping
- 1 tablespoon confectioners sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk
Preheat the oven to 350º F. Line the bottom of oven with foil to catch any juices that may bubble over.
Place the pie crust into 9 inch pie plate.
In a large bowl toss together the apples, brown sugar, granulated sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle with flour to coat apples. Spread into pie crust piling the apple mixture high.
Crisp topping instructions
In a separate bowl mix together flour, oatmeal, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt.
Cut the butter in using a pastry blender or fork, blend until coarse crumbs. Do not over blend, you want chunks of crumble mixture.
Sprinkle evenly over the apples. I layered it on quite thick.
Bake for approximately 1 hr to 1 hr 15 mins in 350º F oven. Remove from oven and drizzle with icing glaze.
