The best healthy turkey chili recipe is full of lean ground turkey, hearty beans and the perfect combination of spices.

- 1 1/2 pounds ground turkey
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 red bell pepper chopped
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 can (28 oz/794ml) diced tomatoes not drained
- 1 can (14oz/398ml) can red kidney beans drained and rinsed
- 1 can (14oz/398ml) pinto or Romano beans drained and rinsed
- 1 can (14oz/398ml) black beans drained and rinsed
- 1 1/2 cups frozen corn
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 2 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- salt and pepper to taste
In a large skillet heat oil, add the ground turkey. Season with salt and pepper and cook until browned.
Transfer to the slow cooker.
Using the same skillet sauté the red pepper, onions, and garlic until slightly tender.
Transfer to the slow cooker.
Add the can of tomatoes, beans and corn to the slow cooker.
Stir in the cumin, cocoa powder, paprika, oregano, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes and Worcestershire sauce.
Season to taste with salt and pepper. Stir to combine.
Cook on low heat for 3-4 hours or high heat 2-3 hours.
Serve topped with chopped green onions or garnish of choice.
