Laureen King creator of Art and the Kitchen
I created Art and the Kitchen in 2012 as a way to share many great, tried and true recipes. My collection of recipes include family favorites and those special recipes handed down from my Mom, Grandma and friends.
My recipes range from good old homestyle cooking to exquisite gourmet meals.
My late Grandmother is the person who inspired me the most. She was a lady of simple means, lived on a farm, grew an enormous garden, baked the most delicious bread and grew the most beautiful flowers. My Mom was also a great inspiration to me. She was an amazing baker and on my blog you will find many of her sweet recipes.
After living in Alberta most of my adult life, and three years in Jacksonville Florida, we moved to my old home town, Humboldt, Saskatchewan. Our home is on a beautiful half acre property. I finally have my huge vegetable garden and ever increasing flower gardens.
My husband, Wayne and I have been married for 33 years. We met while both working for CN Rail. Since I began blogging his question is always "are we eating now or do I have to wait until you take pictures"?
My son encouraged me to start blogging after he left home to go to University. He loved the idea of having an online recipe book of his favorite meals! He has become a great cook and can even make a great cheesecake!
I am also an artist, and enjoy decorative painting, but dabble in all kinds of mediums. Another passion of mine is gardening, I have an exquisite collection of lilies and roses in my garden.
Hope you enjoy my journey of sharing old and new recipes here at Art and the Kitchen.
