If your looking for an incredible ham recipe that is tender, juicy and so easy to make, this recipe for Slow Cooker Maple and Beer Braised Ham is one of the best ham recipes I’ve ever made!
I was recently asked by Ricardo Cuisine to sample one of Ricardo’s Spring recipes. I have been a huge fan of Ricardo for a long time, following him on his television program and his awesome new magazine. This recipe for Slow Cooker Maple and Beer Braised ham is exceptional!
I usually cook a ham for special dinners like Christmas and Easter. Make a big one because leftover are terrific, especially my Ham and Bean Soup. What I loved about this recipe was only 15 minutes of prep time, then forget about it for hours. There is never enough room in the oven when trying to put together a Holiday feast, so a slow cooker is the ultimate solution. The flavour of this ham was amazing! The combination of maple syrup and ale took this ham to a whole new level of taste sensation.
Slow Cooker Maple and Beer Braised Ham
- 1 ham whatever size you like
- 2 tbsp . Dijion mustard
- 1 bottle ale 12 oz
- 3/4 cup pure maple syrup
Place ham in slow cooker (mesh removed)
In large bowl combine together cloves, 1 tbsp. mustard, beer, maple syrup and 2 cups water.
Pour over ham, adding more water if needed so that liquid is a couple inches from rim of slow cooker.
Spread the other tablespoon of mustard on top of ham.
Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until tender, turning ham halfway through cooking.
