Superfood Smoothie

Smoothies are a great way to pack in a ton of nutrition with very little preparation. No cooking, easy cleanup, and best of all you can enjoy it on the go!
I am always looking for recipes to start my day off healthy with nutrient dense ingredients. A while ago I did a post for a Superfood Breakfast Plate. This nutritious breakfast plate included an eclectic array of ingredients that I thought would work also well in a smoothie. This healthy smoothie is easy and perfect for an on-the-go breakfast or afternoon snack. So fuel up for the day with this tasty Superfood Smoothie or try my dairy-free Steel Cut Oats Smoothie.

Superfood Smoothie Ingredients:
- Raw almonds – a tree nut that is high in protein, fibre, and vitamins.
- Greek yogurt – use plain and sugar-free variety.
- Hemp Seeds – hemp seed has an ideal balance of omega-3 and omega-6, a complete source of protein, fiber, minerals, and vitamins. Truly one of nature’s superfoods.
- Chia Seeds – are known as a superfood and are one of nature’s most perfect foods. Chia seeds contain essential fatty acids, omega-3, and omega-6, a vegetarian source of protein, dietary fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
- Fresh Kale – fresh baby spinach would also make a great substitution.
- Berries – fresh raspberries, blueberries, or strawberries. Frozen berries will also work!
- Avocado – contain high levels of essential and beneficial fats.
- Honey – pure organic honey adds a healthy touch of sweetness.

Superfood Smoothie
Ingredients
- 12 raw almonds
- 3/4 cup plain sugar-free Greek yogurt
- 1 tbsp hemp seed
- 1 tbsp chia seed
- 1/4 cup fresh Kale
- 1/2 cup fresh raspberries
- 1/2 cup fresh blueberries
- 1/4 avocado
- 1/4 teaspoon honey
- 1/2 cup ice cubes
Instructions
- Using a blender, grind almonds to fine crumbs.
- Add the yogurt, kale, hemp and chia seed, blend together for a few seconds.
- Add raspberries, blueberries, avocado, honey and ice cubes.
- Blend until smooth.
